Dyven

The great grandparents on our mothers fathers side are Anders and Guri Rolla-bakke. They had one son Anders born December 23, 1795, died April 17, 1873. His hobby was to hunt and fish.

He married Anne Rusta-bakke. She was born July 7, 1796, died October 18, 1878. After their marriage, Anders and Anne bought the farm Dyven. They had five children.

1. Engebret was married to Marit Ödegaarden from Etnedalen parish. They lived on one of her fathers farms. They had one daughter named Anna Sophia.
2. Guri married Peder Aaberg from North Aurdal. They had three children. Anders, Andreas and Anne. The boys went to officer school in Oslo and are now living there. Anne married her cousin Eric Smedsrud. She died during the flu epidemic in 1918.
3. Kari was born in 1841. Was married to Syver Bösselein [spelling? -Peter]. That is all we know about them.
4. Siri married Ole Dalen. And he is an uncle to the Dale's in Minneapolis and to Karoline Dyven's husband. After their marriage they bought the farm Smedsrud in Torpen (Norde Land). Siri died during the flu epidemic in 1918. They had five children:
   • Eric was born July 15, 1862. Died in 1929. Was married to his cousin Anne Aaberg. They lived on the home place. After Anne's death, Eric married again.
   • Anne Sophia born June 20, 1867. Came to America December 16, 1892. She was a dress maker by profession. October 31, 1912, she married E. J. Sinnes of Goshen Washington. He was a widower with four small girls.
   • Sigrid Smedsrud born September 17, 1871. Married her cousin Harry Dyven.

   • Anders was born in April 2, 1876. Lives in Oslo.
   • Gunhild was born January 18, 1879. Lives in Oslo.
5. Anders Dyven was born May 26, 1829. Died December 14, 1884. Was married to Kari Veglingsrud in the fall of 1856. She was born October 31, 1833 and died May 1, 1924. They lived on the home place. They had nine children:
   • Anne was born December 16, 1856. Our mother. Died September 3, 1952. See Bong.
   • Anders born February 13, 1859. Married to Ingeborg Böle May 12, 1885. She was born August 3, 1859. They are living on the home place. Had eight children:
     • Anne Karoline, born March 10, 1886, died August 1, 1913. On August 18, 1908 she married Arne Skören. They had one son who died in infancy.
     • Anders, born January 5, 1888, died November 30, 1907.
     • Bertha, born September 4, 1890. Works in Oslo.
     • Aastha, born January 8, 1893, died December 20, 1907
     • Kristine, born October 4, 1895
     • Anna born in 1897
     • Knut and Ingeborg, born May 5, 1901. Knut died February 15, 1902
   • Anna Mathea Dyven was born September 12, 1861. Came to America in 1882. Was married to Anders Olson May 6, 1883. He was born October 5, 1847 and died October 18, 1920. They had eleven children:
     • Oscar Alfred, born December 21, 1883, died March 1, 1885
     • Oscar Alfred, born July 31, 1885. Married to Emma Stege February 7, 1913. Four children: Evelyn, Margaret, Oscar Alfred Jr. and George.
     • Albert Theodore born July 1, 1887. Married to Ella Olson August 13, 1913. One son Leland born June 15, 1920 and Ella died the same date. On July 21, 1922, Albert married Effie Solen. Two children, Albert Jr. and Muriel Gail.
     • Alma Karoline born August 13, 1889. Married to Nathan Blasberg. One daughter Doris Luella.
     • Andrew Emil born December 1, 1891. Was married, but had divorce. They had adopted a baby girl named Audrey.
     • Marie Helena born April 14, 1894, died July 18, 1894.
     • Esther Marie born May 26, 1895. Married to Walter Ericson August 12, 1919. Two girls Delores Loraine and Arlene Luverne.
     • Selma and Emma born October 25, 1897. Selma married to I. H. Hoots May 26, 1920. Adopted a girl La Verne Harriet. Emma not married.
     • Alice Kristine December 5, 1898. Married to Frank Fons.
     • Elmer Manfred born July 29, 1901. Married Cecile Hoover.
   • Harold [known as Harry] Dyven born January 21, 1864, died October 8, 1933. Came to America in 1882. Left for Bellingham Washington April 5, 1887. Married his cousin Sigrid Smedsrud February 3, 1897. Four daughters:
     • Selma Cordelia born February 8, 1898. Married Raymond Nienaber September 4, 1920. One daughter named Irene.
     • Alma Otelia born February 25, 1901. Married Art Goodrich April 18, 1928. One daughter Joan.
     • Clara Helena born June 30, 1904. Married Glen Balcom June 12, 1929. One daughter.
     • Mable Evelyn born March 10, 1910. Married to John L Weston May 5, 1934.
   • Ole A. Dyven born January 13, 1867, died September 4, 1930. Came to America in 1886. Left for Washington in 1900. Married to Ellen Walton December 15, 1907. Two children: Esther born in December 1910 and Arthur Sigvald born March 11, 1912.
   • Guri Dyven born July 22, 1870, died July 30, 1870.
   • Engebret Dyven born March 25, 1872, died April 4, 1873.
   • Guri Dyven born March 17, 1874. Came to America in 1899. Left for Washington in 1900. Married John C. Gregor July 3, 1901. Three children:
     • Mattie Kristine born January 10, 1902
     • Alvin Johan born November 21, 1902. Married Alta martin August 12, 1927. Two children: Alton and Anita.
     • Alice Kristine born December 8, 1908
   • Engebret Dyven born November 1, 1876. Came to America in 1892. Died at our house March 18, 1899.
