Dyven

Wrote this the winter of 1934. Received the details from Mother and our little bible.

The name Dyven means deep ravine.

The great grandparents on our mothers fathers side are Anders and Guri Rolla-bakke. They had one son Anders born December 23, 1795, died April 17, 1873. His hobby was to hunt and fish.

He married Anne Rusta-bakke. She was born July 7, 1796, died October 18, 1878. After their marriage, Anders and Anne bought the farm Dyven. They had five children.

  1. Engebret was married to Marit Ödegaarden from Etnedalen parish. They lived on one of her fathers farms. They had one daughter named Anna Sophia.
  2. Guri married Peder Aaberg from North Aurdal. They had three children. Anders, Andreas and Anne. The boys went to officer school in Oslo and are now living there. Anne married her cousin Eric Smedsrud. She died during the flu epidemic in 1918.
  3. Kari was born in 1841. Was married to Syver Bösselein [spelling? -Peter]. That is all we know about them.
  4. Siri married Ole Dalen. And he is an uncle to the Dale's in Minneapolis and to Karoline Dyven's husband. After their marriage they bought the farm Smedsrud in Torpen (Norde Land). Siri died during the flu epidemic in 1918. They had five children:
  5. Anders Dyven was born May 26, 1829. Died December 14, 1884. Was married to Kari Veglingsrud in the fall of 1856. She was born October 31, 1833 and died May 1, 1924. They lived on the home place. They had nine children:
