Veglingsrud

Wrote this the winter of 1934. Received the details from Mother and our little bible.

The meaning of the word Veglings means road division and rud means clearing.

The grand-parents on our father's mother and mother's mother side are Harald O. Veglingsrud and Aase M. Dolven. Harald Veglingsrud was born May 1 1795 and died August 8 1877. He had one brother Ole Sörflaten (this Ole Sörflaten is father to Hans Sörflaten the tailor that owned the first sewing machine). He also had a sister Sigrid (south) Bratrud.

Aase M. Dolven was born May 1 1800 and died July 7 1858. She had two brothers, Mikkel and Reier, and the brothers divided the Dolven farm between themselves (Mrs. Wold of Erskine Minnesota is a grand-daughter of Reier Dolven). Aase also had a sister Eli and she is mother to Mrs. O. A. Hain of Minneapolis.

Harald Veglingsrud and Aase's children were:

Guri Veglingsrud married Ole H. Listerudbakken therefore our grand-mother on our father's side. See Listerudbakken.

Anne Veglingsrud was born in 1825. Married to Eric (upper) Lunda. Their children are:
- Ole
- Harald
- Anton. Anton Lunda is father to Harry and Eric Lunda of Minneapolis.
- Andreas. Andreas Lunda lives in South Dakota.
- Lars. Lars lives in New Glarus [spelling? -Peter] Wisconsin. He died in 1931.
- Martin
- Anne

Anne Veglingsrud was born February 11 1828, died September 1 1893. Married to Ole Swenson Navrud. He died in Iowa June 13 1898 and she died in Norway. They had four children.
- Eli married Torgrtson and they live in Soldier Iowa.
- Sven Navrud lives also at Soldier Iowa.
- Anna was born December 25 1860, died in Iowa June 23 1902.
- Harold Swenson born March 1 1864. Married Olina Martinson and have three children:
  - Alvin
  - Clifford
  - Lucile

Ole H. Veglingsrud born October 30 1830, died December 28 1908. Married Ingeborg Mikkelsödegaarden. She died February 12 1890. They had seven children:
- Ole Andreas (Lingsrud) born July 7 1857. Lives now at Benson Minnesota. Not married.
- Syver born February 14 1862, died in 1930. He married Ingeborg Hagahullet. They had two children:
  - Inga is dead.
  - Olaf lives now on the home place.
- Harald born January 24 1863, died in 1930. Not married
- Anne born September 8 1865, died March 1 1891. Not married.
- Dorthea born December 10 1867. Married Knut Kamben. They live in Norway.
- Harald died in infancy.
- Mikkel died in infancy.

Kari Haraldsdatter Veglingsrud married Anders Anderson Dyven therefore our grand-mother on our mother's side. See Dyven.

Mikkel Veglingsrud born February 11 1836, died September 26 1891. He married Anne Sörflaten and she is sister of the tailor Hans Sörflaten. They lived on the place called (lower) Sörflaten. They had eight children:
- Harald is now dead.
- Ole was tailor and he built the place Birkelund. We can see the birches of his place on that hand painted picture of Bang.
- Olaf came to America and lives now at Argyle Wisconsin. He calls himself Olaf Mikkelson.
- Anne Marie married Anders Hovdet. She is mother to Ole Hovdet a friend or our cousin Mikkel Bratrud. And he visited Mikkel one Sunday at our house.

- Sigrid
- Michael. Our mother was God-mother to Michael. The first time she was sponsor for anyone.
- Syver

Halsten Veglingsrud born in 1838, died in August 1880. Married Invild Böle and lived in Norway on the place called Bösselein or Lee. In the year 1876 they moved to America and settled at Benson Minnesota. Invild Böle Lee was born May 2 1841 and died May 4 1923. Their children were:
- Knut died of diphtheria in 1882?
- Harald died in 1902.
- Anton is not married and lives on a farm near Benson Minnesota.
- Anne married Iverson and have six children:
  - Hilma
  - Inga
  - Henry
  - Bernt
  - Albin
  - Helmer
  Iverson died in 1902.
- Bertine died of diphtheria in 1882?
- Otto married Mathilda Fugelsing [spelling? -Peter]. They had ten children:
  - Pauline - dead
  - Mable - married
  - Roy - dead
  - Chester
  - Irine - dead
  - Bertha - married
  - Luther
  - Darrel
  - Enoch
  - another boy, name unknown.
- Halsten married Inga. They have the following children:
  - Henry
  - Irvin
  - Josie
  - Arthur
  - Harold
  - Clarence
  - Florence
  - another girl, name unknown.
All the Lee's live near and in the town of Benson Minnesota.

After Aase Dolven's death, Harald Veglingsrud married again, this time to Gunhild O. born September 15 1792 and died September 29 1889. They had no children. Gunhild Bong is named after her.
