Veglingsrud

The meaning of the word Veglings means road division and rud means clearing.

The grand-parents on our father's mother and mother's mother side are Harald O. Veglingsrud and Aase M. Dolven. Harald Veglingsrud was born May 1 1795 and died August 8 1877. He had one brother Ole Sörflaten (this Ole Sörflaten is father to Hans Sörflaten the tailor that owned the first sewing machine). He also had a sister Sigrid (south) Bratrud.

Aase M. Dolven was born May 1 1800 and died July 7 1858. She had two brothers, Mikkel and Reier, and the brothers divided the Dolven farm between themselves (Mrs. Wold of Erskine Minnesota is a grand-daughter of Reier Dolven). Aase also had a sister Eli and she is mother to Mrs. O. A. Hain of Minneapolis.

Harald Veglingsrud and Aase's children were:

  1. Guri Veglingsrud married Ole H. Listerudbakken therefore our grand-mother on our father's side. See Listerudbakken.
  2. Anne Veglingsrud was born in 1825. Married to Eric (upper) Lunda. Their children are:
  3. Anne Veglingsrud was born February 11 1828, died September 1 1893. Married to Ole Swenson Navrud. He died in Iowa June 13 1898 and she died in Norway. They had four children.
  4. Ole H. Veglingsrud born October 30 1830, died December 28 1908. Married Ingeborg Mikkelsödegaarden. She died February 12 1890. They had seven children:
  5. Kari Haraldsdatter Veglingsrud married Anders Anderson Dyven therefore our grand-mother on our mother's side. See Dyven.
  6. Mikkel Veglingsrud born February 11 1836, died September 26 1891. He married Anne Sörflaten and she is sister of the tailor Hans Sörflaten. They lived on the place called (lower) Sörflaten. They had eight children:
  7. Halsten Veglingsrud born in 1838, died in August 1880. Married Invild Böle and lived in Norway on the place called Bösselein or Lee. In the year 1876 they moved to America and settled at Benson Minnesota. Invild Böle Lee was born May 2 1841 and died May 4 1923. Their children were: All the Lee's live near and in the town of Benson Minnesota.
After Aase Dolven's death, Harald Veglingsrud married again, this time to Gunhild O. born September 15 1792 and died September 29 1889. They had no children. Gunhild Bong is named after her.
